Atlixcayotl is a cultural festival known as the great festival of Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico, and takes place at the top of San Miguel hill, known as Netotiloyan (Place of Dance).
This ancestral event, of Nahuatl origin, was revived in 1965 and is celebrated on the last Sunday of September each year in honor of Saint Michael the Archangel and the god Quetzalcoatl. More than six hundred dancers (Nahuas, Totonacs, Tepehuas, Otomíes, Mixtecs, Popolocas, Mazatecs, and Creoles) participate in this festival.
A fleeting moment turns into art when it’s shared. Reach out, and let’s shape it together.
